'Jersey Shore' Season 5 Premiere: Is The Party Ending For Snooki & The G.T.L. Gang?

Someplace between Sammi and Ronnie's 500th fight and Snooki and Deena's lesbians-for-ratings experience, I stopped tuning in to Jersey Shore.

As soon as the ultra-tan cast beginning acting as charactertures of themselves, the party was more than. By the end of the third season, the series spiraled into a nightmare of binge drinking, sleazy hookups and emotional and physical abuse. It was a trainwreck -- and not the type which makes for must-see reality Television.

Season 4, or the "Italia" edition, was a failed experiment. It was obvious that Snooki and also the gang had no interest in Florence, and also the people of Florence had no interest in meatball guidettes and gorilla juiceheads, which made everyone, including the viewers, just a little uncomfortable.

It drove The Scenario so insane that he actually slammed his head into a wall (a definite highlight from an otherwise lackluster season).

Nevertheless, the fifth season, premiering Thurs., Jan. 5, is a genuine reprieve for followers of Seaside drama, because the cast heads back to Jersey to spend however an additional fist-pumping summer time down the Shore. There is no location like house -- and no taste like pickle juice -- for Snooki, who was so over Italy, their stick-shift cars, confusing visitors indicators and cobblestone streets.

So the cast settles into their old methods: Calling cabs, partying at Karma, G.T.L, working at the Shore Shop and repeating exactly the same played-out jokes to pass the time.

Season 1 gave us G.T.L (fitness center, tan, laundry) like a method of guido existence and introduced us towards the plight in the "grenades." Then, Season 2 followed up with a couple of equally amusing catchphrases: "T-shirt time" and Pauly D's "Cabs are right here!"

But sadly, in Season 5, the Seaside quote machine is on the fritz. After all of the Ronnie and Sam drama in Season 3, it seems Pauly D lost his will to become funny. Now, all we get are exhausted retreads of their greatest hits. Can't MTV employ more writers to obtain in there and punch up the dialogue? Because I believe the Shore Shop requirements some new phrases to iron onto their muscle Ts.

A minimum of Snooki can come up with a couple of possible Twitter hashtags per episode. Anyone keep in mind the five-minute #meatballproblems scene in Season 4? Certainly, that was a sign of the show's impending doom, right?

Unfortunately for MTV, even rats inside a cage get boring to view.

While the cast is happy to become back into their natural habitat, they also have not had a opportunity to let a number of their Italia drama settle, resulting within the exact same fights, with the same individuals, more than exactly the same things. The Scenario is still trying to get Snooki to confess to their hook-up, and the tiny guidette continues to be claiming that it by no means occurred.

In Season 2, The Scenario called himself the glue in the house -- "the one that keeps everyone together" -- after a nasty fight with hated housemate Angelina. But following selecting fights with JWoww, Vinny, Ronnie, Sammi, Deena and now Snooki, it looks like Sitch will be the issue.

When we first met him, Sitch's constant ab flashing and Cheshire grin seemed oddly charming. But more than the course of the last 4 seasons, it is simple to see that the guy is nothing but a total "jerkoff." He continuously inserts himself into other people's drama to get more display time, and Season 5 is no various.

It's all beginning to feel like deja vu. No wonder Vinny gets depressed and tries to leave the Shore. I'm right behind you, Vin.

'Jersey Shore' Season 5 premieres Thurs., Jan. 5 at ten p.m. EST on MTV.

Whilst the party may be over in the Jersey Shore, you will find a couple of reality spinoffs in the functions, including 1 featuring the Shore's preferred guidettes, Snooki and Jwoww. The cast talks about their post-"Shore" tasks below.
